Ingredients
- 1 lb. ground beef
- 1 small onion, chopped
- 1 clove garlic, minced
- 8 oz can Hunt’s No Sugar added tomato sauce 1/4 cup granular Splenda
- 1/2 teaspoon sugar free maple syrup
- 2 tablespoons vinegar
- 1 teaspoon mustard
- 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
- 1 teaspoon salt (or to taste)
- 1/4 teaspoon pepper (or to taste)
- 1/4 teaspoon xanthan gum for thickening, (optional), found at health stores
Directions
Brown the ground beef along with the onion and garlic, drain the fat.
Add the remaining ingredients, except the xanthan gum (if used).
Cover and simmer 30 minutes.
If the sauce is too thin, thicken it with a little xanthan gum.
Serve on a bed of lettuce.
Top with reduced fat cheddar cheese for extra flavor.
