Cream butter; add sugar gradually; beat in egg yolks and vanilla. Blend in flour and salt; chill. Shape level teaspoonfuls of dough into balls; dip in egg white, then into pecans. Place on greased cookie sheets. Bake at 375 degrees for five minutes. Remove from oven; make a depression in center of each cookie. Return to oven; bake about ten minutes longer. Cool. Fill centers with Tinted Butter Frosting.
Blend butter, sugar, cream and vanilla; beat until smooth. Divide frosting into parts and tint with food coloring. Frost cookies.
