Extract Essence from Dried Peels (Method C)

Only peels from which the inner white parenchyma has been removed is to be employed.

5 lb. expulped peels are treated with 2 gallons proof spirit for three days, then collect without expressing 7 1/2 lb. extract.

On the residue pour 2 gallons water, distil off 1/2 gallon, filter this distillate with the aid of infusorial earth

and rectify it to 2 1/2 lb. which then mix with the extract to yield the total result of 10 Ib.
